Sure, it’s only October, but if you want a really great 2025 advent calendar, we highly advise smashing that order (or pre-order) button right now. Not only do many of the most popular advent calendars sell out quickly (i.e. well before December), but early bird shoppers can sometimes find great discounts from chocolatiers, coffee companies, and beyond, offering daily treats that are far more exciting than waxy drugstore chocolate.
During the holiday season, most of us are so focused on buying gifts for other people that we don’t spend enough time treating ourselves. An advent calendar is an especially festive way to surprise yourself with something nice each of the anticipatory days leading up to Christmas, and it’s even better when you get to enjoy lots of fun little edible and drinkable trinkets. While advent calendars have been around since the 19th century, their popularity and ingenuity (and their especially luxurious side) has exploded in recent years (where was my Pokémon-filled advent calendar in 1997?). With that popularity has come a dizzying array of new advent calendars for food-lovers. Here are a few of our favorites for 2025.

The advent calendar from this French chocolatier is visually stunning thanks to its 3-D, l’Arc de Triomphe-inspired packaging that boasts an equally compelling assortment of treats within. Inside, you’ll find the brand’s beloved pralines, plus a slew of decadent bonbons and cute molded chocolates. Plus, you can hang it up, giving it a very cool decorative element.

There are a lot of luxury chocolatiers out there, but Dandelion Chocolate takes special care to soliloquize even the most minute details inspirations and flavor notes in its chocolates, especially when it comes to its 2025 advent calendar. This beauty is filled with a cosmos-inspired collection of 25 confections, each made by a North American chocolatier and presented in individual keepsake boxes illustrated by Belgian artist Lina Kusaite, which can be repurposed as ornaments.

Got a coffee nerd in the house? Onyx Coffee’s cult-favorite advent calendar will allow them to sip 24 different coffees all December long, from “landrace naturals to exquisitely delicate washed geshas,” in the words of the Onyx Coffee Lab. Each box contains a set of playing cards, and each coffee pouch contains enough coffee for a full pour-over brew, making this an ideal morning ritual for two until Christmas Day arrives. Plus, if you order before November, you’ll receive $30 off your order.

Specialty seasonings brand Penzeys has achieved such cult-fave status amongst spice nerds that there are entire Reddit threads dedicated to discussing the heartfelt, masterfully kooky spice blends from the Wauwatosa, Wisconsin-based company; one fan favorite, for example, is Outrage of Love, a spice blend of salt, black pepper, red pepper, shallots, lemon peel, garlic, and more spices, for dressing up everything from avocado to fish. The advent calendar is equally as colorful in spirit, and includes 24 tablespoon-sized samples of its blends.

Whether you’re just learning how to cook or consider yourself an expert in the kitchen, this spice-packed advent calendar from Williams Sonoma is a great way to bring a little variety to your dishes — and maybe find a new staple or two. Curated by Parisian spice purveyor Le Comptoir Colonial, this 24-day calendar includes top quality staples like crushed peppercorns alongside more fanciful flourishes, including saffron sea salt, a sweet Speculoos spice blend, and spicy green curry.

Classic French jam company Bonne Maman’s advent calendar is a perennial favorite, and for good reason. It’s reasonably priced, and packed with 24 miniature glass jars featuring different (and, in some cases, rare) flavors of jam and honey, including a peach blackcurrant Sichuan pepper and caramel coffee. Bonus: You get to reuse all those adorably tiny jars all year long.

Instead of getting yet another chocolate-filled advent calendar, why not go for cheese? This 12-day calendar from beloved NYC cheese purveyor Murray’s is packed with unique Cheddars, D.O.P. Parmigiano Reggiano, crackers, jams, and other cheeseboard accouterments. Enjoy a bite each day starting on December 12, then prepare a stunning Christmas Day spread with all the cheeses.

A true splurge, but one that will make a caviar aficionado’s heart sing. This advent calendar from Caviar House & Prunier boasts 24 10-gram tins of caviar from the century-old caviar house, which was also the first producer to obtain caviar from farmed sturgeons in 1994 in an effort to spearhead a more sustainable alternative for endangered species in the Caspian Sea.

Amid the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, this 24-day advent calendar from Palais des Thés is packed with teas that will encourage you to take a moment and relax all December long. Inside the hand-stiched cotton packages you’ll find single estate and herbal teas, along with seasonal blends such as Joie, a 2025 organic blend of green tea, roasted buckwheat, and almond. This year’s box also includes an audio component that shares the stories and legends associated with many of the teas, such as the myth of Shennon, for extra cozy-maxxing.

For the serious, yet whimsical chocolate advent calendar enthusiast, this offering from Vosges is an ideal holiday splurge. The calendar itself is a detailed recreation of an antique greenhouse. “As the days unfold,” Vosges says on the site, “turn the drawers to reveal a wild assemblage of flora and fauna,” and, of course, 24 different chocolates, cookies, and other treats — “chocolaty mushrooms, pistachio bonbons, spicy mango caramels, and wild blackberry truffles,” to name a few — along with a 25th that’s overflowing with goodies to share on Christmas Day.

Not really a fan of sweets? This collection from Fly By Jing includes 12 different savory sauces, spices, and other pantry staples, including a few surprises. You can likely expect the brand’s famed chile crisp, along with hard-to-find spices and other treats, all of which are packed in small jars that are perfect if you’re going to be flying home during the holidays and need something to spice up your in-laws’ cooking.

Straightaway Cocktails is a favorite of Eater and Punch audience development director Kaitlin Bray, who says that the “Flora Green amaro is the best green Chartreuse substitute I’ve had.” The company’s advent calendar is filled with a dozen of its pre-made cocktails, such as the Bee’s Knees, Oregon Old Fashioned, Margarita, Blanco Margarita, and more.

Pour one out for this French chateau-themed advent calendar of vino, which treats your lucky giftee to 24 miniature “flavor-packed reds, dry whites, refreshing rosé[s] and boutique Prosecco[s].” Truly a delightful way to get through the holidays — and the box is beautiful, too.

Los Angeles chocolatier Compartés’s advent calendar is both indulgent and visually stunning. The brand actually has a few advent calendars to choose from, including Nutcracker- and Wicked-themed calendars, but this winter-fox-themed 12-day iteration feels especially lighthearted. As the site says, “Each day unveils a glimpse of a magical kingdom, where a clever fox called Samson carries a golden key that unlocks the gates to a hidden realm of chocolate delights” filled with chocolate filled with classic, comforting dessert flavors such as cookies and cream, pecan pie, and more.

At $199, Japanese market Bokksu’s Edo period Japan-inspired advent calendar (the interior art pays homage to ukiyo-e woodblock prints) is definitely on the pricy side, but it’s also packed with 40 different snacks, cakes, and handcrafted pottery, all imported from Japan, to open throughout the month of December.

The Pokémon- and Sanrio-obsessed kiddos will go wild for this toy- and candy-filled advent calendar from Sugio Mart, an online boutique beloved for its Japanese snacks, collectibles, games, and more (don’t sleep on its Japanese Halloween candy bundle, either).
