Hong Kong police have arrested three teenagers in connection with an attack on a 17-year-old girl in a shopping centre toilet last month, with the incident allegedly motivated by money and relationship disputes.
The force said on Sunday that the three girls, aged 13 to 16, were arrested in Sau Mau Ping, Ta Kwu Ling and Tsuen Wan, on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm following an investigation by police’s Mong Kok district crime squad.
The trio are currently being held for questioning as the investigation is ongoing.
The 17-year-old girl filed a police report on Friday, saying she was attacked by several girls in the bathroom of a shopping centre along Mong Kong’s Laundry Street on October 17 due to money and relationship issues.
“The girl suffered injuries to her face and mouth, as well as a headache, but did not seek medical attention,” a police spokeswoman said.
In Hong Kong, anyone convicted of assault causing bodily harm can face up to three years in prison.
