North Korean leader Kim crosses into China via armored train: State media


North Korean leader Kim Jong Un left Pyongyang via his armored train and crossed into China early Tuesday morning, according to state media, on his way to Beijing to watch a military parade with the leaders of China, Russia and other countries.

The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) released a short report on Kim’s departure just after 1 a.m. KST on Tuesday, saying he “left Pyongyang by his train on September 1 to participate in celebrations of the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War at the invitation of Xi Jinping.”
