The Lee Jae-myung administration has outlined plans to complete the transfer of operational wartime control (OPCON) of South Korean troops from Washington within Lee’s term and to pursue peace and reconciliation with North Korea, announcing a provisional five-year policy road map on Wednesday.
The blueprint was presented by the Presidential Committee on Policy Planning (국정기획위원회), the government’s de facto transition team, and organizes the national agenda into five overarching categories — politics, innovative economy, balanced growth, society and diplomacy and security — supported by 123 “state affairs tasks” and 564 detailed action plans.
