Updated at 5:23 on October 8
Tick tock, it’s Amazon Prime Day again. The fall version of the perpetually re-upped sales event runs for one more day until 11:59pm on October 8, and, as ever, Prime Day espresso machine deals are some of the best buys.
That’s because there’s almost always a whole run of Breville machines (perpetually some the top rated espresso makers coming out of our product tests), De’Longhi machines (Breville’s main competitor for home espresso), and Nespresso coffee makers heavily discounted.
But there are plenty of other quality espresso machines running up to 40% off during the sale.
If you’re waiting until Amazon Prime Day to finally buy a new espresso machine, here’s a bit of advice: Start shopping now. Amazon has already dropped hundreds of deals on top-quality espresso makers ahead of its two-day Prime Big Deal Days event, which runs October 7 and 8. Breville, De’Longhi, Gaggia, and Nespresso are just a few of the major espresso machine brands that are already deeply discounted by as much as 40% off.
Among some of the best early Prime Day deals we spotted: our test topping Breville Bambino Plus, the space-saving Nespresso’s Vertuo Next, and Ninja’s do-it-all Espresso Luxe Café, which makes espresso, coffee, and cold brew.
These marked-down espresso makers are already selling fast, so it’s a good idea to snag your favorite before they go out of stock. See some of our favorite early Prime Day deals below.
Our Favorite Prime Day Espresso Machine Deals:
Who can shop the Prime Day Sale
Historically, the very best Amazon Prime Day deals (a.k.a. the lowest prices on the best products) are reserved for Amazon Prime members. Prime members get free shipping on Prime Day deals too. In Prime Day’s past you could sign up for a 30 day free trial of Prime that would give you access to the sale, but Amazon did away with that this fall and now the trial is one week of Prime for $1.99.
That said, just like with the early Prime Day deals that popped up in the weeks leading up to the sale, there are still plenty of great deals to be found on Amazon and at competing retailers during the big Prime Day sale, no membership or coupon required. We’ve rounded the best Prime Day deals on espresso machines
Deals on Breville espresso machines
We’ve been testing these here at BA for years and years and feel confident in declaring that Breville really is the king of home espresso makers. And after their acquisition of grinder giant Baratza we even feel comfortable recommending some of their machines with built-in grinders (something we resisted for a long time). Right now our top picks for a beginner machine and a built-in grinder machine are 20 and 33% off respectively.
Deals on De’Longhi espresso machines
In terms of their sheer catalog, De’longhi runs a close second to Breville in the home espresso space. We haven’t loved De’longhi machines quite as universally as Breville ones, but there are a number of good ones (particularly their all-in-one machines) that come seriously discounted for Prime Day.
Deals on super automatic espresso machines
Super automatic espresso machines—the kind that let you press a single button to grind, tamp, brew and steam milk—are amongst the most heavily discounted for Prime Day. If you aren’t interested in putting much work into your morning cappuccino, our top rated super auto from Bosch is $400 off. The very slick looking TK-02 from Terra Kaffe is $300 off as well.
Deals on Nespresso machines
They aren’t, strictly speaking, espresso makers, but Nespresso’s whole lineup of capsule machines do a better job than any other pod machine on the market. If you’re on the fence about the space and cost of a real espresso machine these are a great alternative.
Deals on other espresso machines
There are lot of Prime Day discounts on espresso machines from brands you really only see on Amazon, and, for the most part you should steer clear of those. We’ve found that you really do get what you pay for with espresso makers and anything that seems to good to be true probably is. But some major brands have discounts beyond Breville and De’longhi, like Gaggia and Ninja. If you want something a little more professional, Rancilio’s Silvia prosumer machine is on sale too.
Coffee grinders to go with your new espresso maker
If you go with a semi-automatic machine, that is, an espresso maker that requires you to load the basket with ground coffee yourself, you must, must, must, have a good burr grinder. If you don’t it will render your new espresso maker little more than a hot water heater. That’s because, in order to pull a good shot you need evenly ground coffee, fine enough to put up some resistance, but not so fine that water can push through it. Now, coffee grinders, like coffee makers, can get very expensive very quickly. But if you’re looking for a good couple of good starter options to pair with something like the Breville Bambino you’ll be happy with either the Fellow Opus (our favorite all-around grinder) or the Breville Smart Grinder Pro, both of which are 20% off.
