Belarusian model reportedly killed in Myanmar went there on her own: Thai police

Thai immigration officials have denied claims that a Belarusian model was abducted while in Bangkok and forcibly taken to Myanmar, where tabloids claim she was reportedly killed by a criminal gang.
The unconfirmed death of 26-year-old Vera Kravtsova has gained international attention in recent days after Russian and British tabloids reported that, following her arrival in Thailand, she was kidnapped and brought to northern Myanmar, where she was tortured and had her organs harvested while being held at a cyber-scam compound.
According to Thai immigration authorities, Kravtsova arrived at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi airport from Belarus on September 12 and departed six days later on Thai Airways flight TG301 to Yangon at 7.20am local time on September 20.

Based on surveillance footage and biometric records, officials said she passed through the airport’s automated immigration checkpoint alone.

“CCTV footage shows she was not under any coercion, and immigration records confirm she used the self-service ABC gate,” said police major general Cherngron Rimphadee, a spokesman for the Immigration Bureau, as quoted by Thai outlet MGR Online.

“The reported brutal incidents happened after the model flew to Myanmar,” he added. “Thai police do not know what happened there as it is outside our authority.”
