North Korea launched one short-range ballistic missile toward the East Sea (Sea of Japan) on Friday afternoon, according to South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS), days after a U.S. aircraft carrier visited the ROK.

JCS said the missile flew around 435 miles (700 km) and that the launch took place around 12:35 p.m. KST from somewhere in Taegwan County, North Phyongan Province — an area that is home to several weapons factories.
