From croc platforms in Milan to black leather boots in Paris, Michelle Yeoh seemingly hasn’t touched a flat in months — and Friday’s “Wicked: For Good” premiere at the Paris Opera kept the run intact. The actress opted for Amina Muaddi’s leather Yigit boot, a sharply pointed ankle silhouette built on a double-stacked platform and a high flared stiletto heel in smooth black leather.
The boots punctuated a bespoke Balenciaga gown cut from the spring 2026 runway proportions and recolored in a saturated purple. The sleeveless bodice and dropped, gathered skirt directed weight toward the hem, leaving the angular platform fully exposed.

Ariana Grande, who also kept to a black footwear silhouette, went the opposite route in Balenciaga Knife pumps — a pointed-toe pump style instead of a platform, although both featured stiletto heels.
While the platform height isn’t new for Yeoh, the unadorned finish is a new twist. In late September, she wore Bottega Veneta’s Madame platform pump in croc-embossed calfskin with a squared toe and gold vamp bar tied to Louise Trotter’s debut collection. A month earlier, she paired Simone Rocha’s crystal-covered Crocs Siren clogs with a pared-back look in Los Angeles.

She isn’t the only one treating platforms as the through line rather than the exception. Demi Moore brought out Saint Laurent’s Nico boot — a six-inch block-heel style — for the New Yorker Festival in October. Taylor Swift stepped out in Gucci Horsebit slingback platforms in burgundy embossed leather in New York the same night Yeoh was in Paris. Lady Gaga has alternated between convex Louboutin platforms and Enfants Riches Déprimés Mary Janes throughout her recent Italian appearances. It seems the silhouette is having something of a resurgence.
