Viral footage of two commuters wrestling on the floor of Johor Bahru’s main border terminal has once again highlighted the chronic congestion – and fraying tempers – at one of Southeast Asia’s busiest land crossings, where hundreds of thousands travel daily between Malaysia and Singapore.

The 14-second clip, posted late on Wednesday, shows a man and a second commuter who appears to be a woman pushing each other near the fenced entrance to the bus bays inside the Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) Complex at the Sultan Iskandar Building.

During the scuffle, they tumble onto the concourse floor as other travellers waiting to board look on in shock.

The video, shared at about 11.50pm in a Malaysia–Singapore commuter group, carried a Chinese caption reading: “Fighting while scrambling to get on the bus.”

Dozens of passengers crowded around the pair as they traded shoves in a narrow queue lane commonly used for late-night departures.

Johor Bahru South District police chief Raub Selamat said officers had been given the footage but confirmed that no reports had been lodged.
