Shedeur Sanders made his NFL debut on Sunday, entering the matchup against the Baltimore Ravens in the second half after Dillon Gabriel was ruled out with a concussion.

He was not greeted kindly by the Ravens, who sacked him and forced a fumble on just his third play from scrimmage. Baltimore then mocked his celebration after the play:

He was also intercepted on his second possession:

Cleveland fans have been clamoring for Sanders to finally see game time all season. The team came into the 2025 season with a bizarre plan, drafting both Gabriel and Sanders, signing Joe Flacco and trading for Kenny Pickett.

Pickett was ultimately traded, Flacco struggled as the initial starter and was dealt as well and the reins were handed over to Gabriel. He hasn’t looked great in the role, however, and the desire to see Sanders given his shot grew to a fever pitch.

Sanders didn’t exactly look as though he was going to cause a quarterback controversy after the first few series he was in the game, however, as the Ravens sent unrelenting pressure his way and he struggled to beat it.

Sanders may need to make at least one more start, depending on Gabriel’s recovery timeline. But the Browns and head coach Kevin Stefanski have been pretty adamant about Gabriel remaining their starter, so if he’s healthy he’ll likely stay atop the depth chart.
