Seoul has announced a sweeping reshuffle of the military’s top brass under President Lee Jae-myung, including a new chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) tasked with leading ROK armed forces against North Korea.
Experts say the move is aimed at restoring trust in the military after last year’s short-lived imposition of martial law eroded morale and triggered an extended period of political instability in South Korea.
