Michael Jordan’s engine is revving up for a retro-inspired spin on his latest Air Jordan 40 model.

Formally named the Air Jordan 4014, the upcoming “Ferrari” colorway is the latest version of the Air Jordan 40 to be combined with a Jordan signature sneaker from the past. As the name suggests, the latest mash-up fuses the Air Jordan 40 with the Air Jordan 14, Jordan’s fourteenth signature model which was originally released in 1998. With a luxury sports car inspiration, the Tinker Hatfield-designed sneaker was never subtle in its horsepower-themed detailing, but the bright red suede Ferrari colorway was the most on-the-nose of the bunch.

Despite its seamless application on the Air Jordan 14, the Ferrari style wasn’t one of the model’s original colorways and was instead introduced in 2014. The Challenge Red/Black/Vibrant Yellow/Anthracite style was so popular that it received a reissue in June.

Now, the sports car styling is appearing on the Air Jordan 4014, complete with a red suede upper, a car badge-inspired Jumpman emblem and carbon fiber detailing on the midsole. Yellow accents are used subtly, but tie together the theme, leaving little question as to which vehicle inspired the colorway.

Despite the clear Ferrari inspiration, it should be noted that the upcoming Air Jordan 4014 and its Air Jordan 14 inspiration are not officially licensed collaborations with the Italian automobile manufacturer. 

Following the Air Jordan 40’s July debut, new hybrid versions of the sneaker combined with past Air Jordan models began surfacing such as the upcoming Air Jordan 4016, which uses elements of the Air Jordan 16. Also on the horizon are Air Jordan 4023 and Air Jordan 4028 models which reference the Air Jordan 23 and Air Jordan 28, respectively.

Although they feature a number of aesthetic modifications, the Air Jordan 40 fusion models retain the tech of the latest flagship sneaker including a pairing of full-length Zoom Strobel and top-of-the-line ZoomX foam for cushioning. 

Readers can expect the Air Jordan 4014 Ferrari to be released in 2026 for a retail price of $200 from Nike’s Snkrs app and select Jordan Brand retailers. The style code for this colorway is IR2082-600.
