A U.S. court has sentenced an American national to more than eight years in prison for facilitating a massive fraud scheme that helped North Korean information technology (IT) workers generate millions in illicit funds for Pyongyang’s nuclear ambitions.
The U.S. District Court for the District Columbia on Thursday delivered the 102-month sentence against Christina Chapman for her role in helping Pyongyang exploit more than 300 American companies and government agencies and steal the identities of dozens of U.S. citizens, the Justice Department said in a press release.
