Gwyneth Paltrow‘s daughter Apple Martin went back into the archives — and into her mother’s closet — for the Calvin Klein Collection dress she wore to the premiere of “Marty Supreme” in New York City on Tuesday night.
The black dress, which hails from the mid-1990s, features a black scoop neckline and halter-style straps with a formfitting silhouette, long flowing skirt and cutout at the back. The dress made Martin, whom Paltrow shares with former husband and Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, appear even more statuesque than the 21-year-old model does ordinarily.

Taking further inspiration from her mother’s variation on the Calvin Klein look, Martin modeled her glam to her mother’s original ’90s style. The GapStudio campaign star wore her blond hair in a high bun with a slight part near her hairline akin to her mother’s hairstyle from the July 1996 premiere of “Emma,” an adaptation of the Jane Austen novel in which Paltrow plays the titular character.
To accessorize the look, Martin continued her mom’s minimalist approach to style that dates back to the ’90s. She wore a pair of simple stud earrings as the sole visible jewelry for her “Marty Supreme” New York City premiere look.

The Calvin Klein Collection dress originally worn by Paltrow is a real testament to the power of minimalist style. As an ode to the ’90s, the sartorial statement harkens back to the fashion prowess Paltrow previously possessed and has since incorporated into her promotional tour wardrobe and her newly minted fashion label Gwyn.
While taking style cues from her mom’s closet, Apple Martin is also making headway in the fashion industry in her own right. The 21-year-old landed her first fashion deal with London-based fashion brand Self-Portrait in September. By October, she starred in her first campaign for the luxury label.

“Marty Supreme,” directed by Josh Safdie, follows Marty Mauser, played by Timothée Chalamet, who aspires to be the greatest table tennis player in the world no matter the cost — even if his unbridled ambition hurts the people around him. The film hits theaters on Dec. 25.
