Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande‘s “Wicked” method dressing got an elevated spin in looks by Dior and Givenchy for the Governors Awards 2025 red carpet in Los Angeles on Sunday night.

Grande embraced her inner Glinda with a retro, one-shoulder pink gown from Christian Dior’s fall 2007 ready-to-wear collection. Curated by designer John Galliano, and sourced from Happy Isles, the gown was crafted with soft pink satin and adorned with small gemstones in various shades of pink, red and aquamarine on the bodice and skirt.

Designed with a cinched waist for added silhouette definition, the skirt of the gown cascaded with gathered fabric at the hip and gemstone detailing motif. Grande wore Christian Louboutin heels and accessorized with Swarovski jewelry, the latter for which she serves as a campaign star and ambassador.

Grande’s hair was coiffed into a chignon on the top of her head by Alyx Liu, with makeup provided by Michael Anthony. Image architect Law Roach curated Grande’s look for the evening.

Styled by Jason Bolden, Cynthia Erivo channeled her “Wicked” character Elphaba in a coatdress from Givenchy’s spring 2026 ready-to-wear collection. Designed by Sarah Burton, formerly of McQueen, Erivo’s look included shades of green and black in an abstract embroidered design crafted with fringe material cascaded down the skirt.

The look included a structured bodice with an open neckline and billowing sleeves for a proportional effect. A subtle belted waist created definition, while the look demonstrably highlighted Burton’s textural ingenuity.

The Oscar-nominated actress’ accessories included earrings by Messika. Glam was provided by makeup artist Joanna Simkin and Shea Osei. John Mumblo also provided his services for Erivo’s look.

Presented at the Ray Dolby Ballroom at Ovation Hollywood, the 2025 Governors Awards honored actor Tom Cruise, production designer Wynn Thomas and actress Debbie Allen with honorary Oscars, presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences. Dolly Parton received the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award in absentia.
