On Thursday, luxury Swedish fragrance brand Byredo reintroduced its high-concentration “extrait de parfum” collection, Night Veils.
The line contains five fragrances created by longtime Byredo perfumer Jérôme Epinette, each priced at $400 for a 70 mL, and is available at Byredo boutiques and in its online direct-to-consumer store, as well as select retailers like Harrods.
“I was going in deeper, finding and highlighting some new ingredients, pushing the limit a bit,” Epinette told The Business of Beauty. “The way I define Byredo is taking risks. With Night Veils, it’s even going further and using amazing ingredients, sourced from all over the world.”
Night Veils originally launched in 2018, but receives updated packaging and an addition to its lineup. The collection, which includes Night Veils originals Rouge Chaotique, Cuir Sellier, Vanille Antique, and Casablanca Lily, also introduces the brand-new Bois Obscura, a slow-burning scent with layered notes of saffron, dark oud and sandalwood. All of the Night Veils are classed as extraits de parfum, the highest concentration commercial fragrances available.
The new bottles are deliberately distinct from the core Byredo line, with taller flacons and gold-plated caps.
The fragrance brand, which has expanded to offer colour cosmetics, leather goods and jewellery, was acquired by Spanish group Puig in 2022 following a $1.15 billion valuation. Founder Ben Gorham departed the luxury label in June 2025, as Puig assumed full ownership of the brand.
Puig, whose portfolio includes Charlotte Tilbury, Jean Paul Gaultier, and Christian Louboutin, has its sights set on the high-end fragrance market. While growth in the fragrance category has begun to cool, intense fragrances are still continuing to gain popularity.
Night Veils is as intense as Byredo gets, said Epinette. “It’s a little bit more expensive, a little bit more concentrated. If you compare it with the existing Byredo line, I think they are very intimate,” he said. “Night Veils is really making a statement. It’s in your face, it’s bigger. It makes more noise.”
