Chargers' Hassan Haskins, Kimani Vidal Fantasy Outlook After Omarion Hampton Injury

The running back position for the Los Angeles Chargers keeps getting thinner.

Najee Harris is already out for the season with a torn Achilles, and on Monday the team announced that rookie star Omarion Hampton was headed to injured reserve with an ankle injury.

So, what should fantasy players expect from the team’s remaining options at the position, Hassan Haskins and Kimani Vidal?

The answer to that is, uh, sort of hard to pin down.

Haskins seemingly came into the day as the backup, though it was Vidal who played more snaps after Hampton was injured.

Haskins finished with three carries for five yards and a reception for two yards, while Vidal had three carries for 16 yards and a reception for one yard.

From a career perspective, Haskins has rushed for 195 yards and two touchdowns in parts of three seasons and caught 15 passes for 108 yards and a score, while Vidal has rushed for 173 yards in parts of two seasons and pulled in six receptions for 63 yards and a score.

There doesn’t seem to be much of a consensus on which player is the better pickup at this point, though the lean is toward Vidal:

There is the possibility the Chargers will add another player at the position as well, and it wouldn’t be shocking if the team simply went more pass-heavy in the coming weeks with Justin Herbert and the team’s solid options at wideout.

Nonetheless, both Vidal and Haskins are worthy waiver additions this week and risky flex options going forward. Vidal feels like the player who should be given priority, but if you are going this route, put out claims on both.
