A Chinese merchant says he has shipped more than 2,000 used computers and graphics cards worth hundreds of thousands of dollars to North Korea since last year, an apparent breach of U.N. sanctions that underscores the DPRK’s appetite for foreign technology.

The merchant based in the southern Guangdong Province, who identifies himself as XiaoyangChaoxianZhilv (Xiaoyang’s Trip to North Korea) on the Chinese social media app Rednote, has offered an unusual first-person account of the steady demand for used desktop PCs, laptops and entry-level graphics cards inside North Korea since last year, suggesting that buyers are acquiring the low-spec machines in bulk as they expand computing access.
