MILAN — Colmar has popped up at Milan’s Centrale train station, offering mountain aficionados fleeing the city for a winter getaway or Winter Olympics enthusiasts on their way to see the Games a last-minute chance to buy a puffer.

The skiwear and sportswear specialist founded in 1923 in Monza, a few miles north of Milan, has opened a temporary shop inside the railway station here, mounting a 270-square-foot booth shaped as the Lagazuoi cable car, a skiing facility in Cortina d’Ampezzo, the tony winter resort destination in northern Italy that will be home to the Olympics next year alongside Milan.

The pop-up store will remain open until Feb. 25, covering the entire duration of the Games, which run from Feb. 6 to 22.

The store will carry the Colmar Originals lifestyle division’s collections introduced in 2009 to flank the brand’s performancewear. To be sure, Colmar has been linked with winter sports throughout its history, having been worn by Italian ski champions over the last century, from Leo Gasperl to Zeno Colò.

Colmar Originals, designed by the internal team, has over the years teamed with a roster of fashion designers, including Shayne Oliver for the A.G.E. project and, most recently, with White Mountaineering’s Yosuke Aizawa.

Decked in Klein blue, the pop-up features white furniture and fiery red accents — the three colors together nodding to the brand’s logo. The checker plate metal flooring recalls skiing facilities, while white faux fur details mimic snow.

Colmar marked its 100th anniversary in 2023 conscripting artist and streetwear darling Joshua Vides for its centennial capsule. The 10-piece lineup inspired by archival designs was splashed with the artist’s thick, black, Roy Lichtenstein-esque lines and graphics.

Through its skiwear division Colmar has been the outfitter of winter sports athletes internationally, most recently supplying gear to the France and Slovenia teams.
