CHEEKY FRIES: American label Dickies is dropping a collaboration with Rassvet, the nine-year-old skate brand under the umbrella of the Paris-based business development arm of Dover Street Market.
“When we started talking to the Dickies team, I already knew what I wanted to achieve: find a very simple way to elevate Dickies staples silhouette through our own perspective,” said Rassvet founder Tolya Titaev.
Inspired by Dickies’ slogan “We’re basic,” the eight-piece collection, which drops on Friday, will see Rassvet giving Dickies wardrobe essentials an elevated twist. Long work shorts, short-sleeve shirts, double-knee pants and jackets are hand-painted and screen-printed in Amsterdam for a textural finish.
“I’ve been customizing my own clothes from quite a young age, just like a lot of skaters out there,” said the Rassvet founder. “That’s also something I wanted people to feel when looking at that capsule: genuine customs, timeless fits.”

To give the utilitarian workwear-inspired range a contemporary and cultural touch, a cheeky campaign was also shot on film by Paris-based Spanish photographer Pablo Escudero at the Paris restaurant Le Train Bleu, in which a couple sits down for a formal dinner but only orders fries with a waiter pouring ketchup like fine wine.
Founded in 2016 by Titaev, who is a skateboarder, Rassvet means dawn or sunrise in Russian. The brand is rooted in international friendships through its skate team with riders from Paris, Los Angeles, New York, London and Barcelona, as well as a collaborative approach to design and artist features.
A launch event is planned for Friday at Dover Street Market Paris, which will include a film screening, a photo exhibition and a live DJ set.
The Rassvet x Dickies capsule will be available exclusively at Dover Street Market Paris and on Rassvet‘s website, which launched in March.
