Mammoth Brands, the parent company that owns the shaving brands Harry’s and Flamingo and deodorants makers Lume and Mando, announced on Thursday that it has signed an agreement to acquire Coterie, a premium baby care brand.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. According to an accompanying release, Coterie generated $200 million in net revenue in the last 12 months, an increase of almost 60 percent year-on-year. The profitable business has sold over 700 million diapers, predominantly directly to consumers, since 2019.
With the acquisition, Mammoth Brands enters the $12 billion market for diapers and baby wipes. Coterie’s premium offering is marketed as cruelty-free and gentle on babies’ skin. A box of 96 Coterie diapers is $105.50, compared to a box of 136 from Pampers is $47.99. The brand also sells skincare products and a selection of cleaning wipes.
Andy Katz-Mayfield, co-founder and co-chief executive of Mammoth Brands, said in the release that within its infrastructure, Coterie can become the leading modern baby care brand. “Mammoth Brands has a proven track record of scaling online-led brands into omnichannel leaders,” he said.
Coterie’s chief executive and president Jess Frenchman Jacobs and Grace Weingard will continue in their respective roles alongside other key executives, with Coterie operating as an independent brand within Mammoth Brands.
Harry’s was originally founded as a direct-to-consumer shaving business in 2013. Since the Federal Trade Commission blocked shaving company Edgewell from acquiring it in 2020 in a $1.37 billion deal, the company has undergone a transformation. In April, it rebranded as Mammoth Brands, after launching sub-brands Flamingo and Mando and acquiring deodorant maker Lume in 2021. Jeff Raider, the company’s other co-founder, told The New York Times all four of its brands generate more than $100 million in sales.
In 2024, Reuters reported that the company had confidentially filed for an initial public offering.
