Some online users questioned his sincerity, accusing Khung Wei Nan, who goes by the moniker Simonboy, of using his four-year-old daughter’s name for publicity, while others pointed to his imprisonment for drug use and said that he had failed to prevent his daughter’s death at the hands of her mother and then boyfriend.
Khung has taken legal action against fellow influencer Wendy Cheng – better known as Xiaxue – who earlier this week posted a screenshot of Khung, citing how he had “enough kids on your hands to handle” to bother with the Forever Megan Charity.
Earlier this month, Khung posted a video on social media sharing his charity initiative. “I’ve just started my first project to give back, I think this is the best way to show my gratitude for your support,” Khung said.
Megan died in February 2020 after a year of appalling abuse, including being forced to sleep in a planter box and being hit with a hosepipe.
Khung’s post spurred heated discussions on social media. One online user said: “If you’re really that humble, you should live a simple life. Forgo the luxury stuff and give back to society, not show off and act like it’s not your fault.”
