Torrential monsoon rains have turned streets into raging rivers at several Chinese towns near North Korea this week, videos on Chinese social media show, in a sign that flooding may also be impacting vulnerable DPRK communities across the border.
Two storm fronts have closed in on North Korea’s northwest provinces of North Phyongan and Jagang in recent days. One front moved northward across the Korean Peninsula, Yellow Sea and parts of Shandong Province in China, while the other moved eastward across Inner Mongolia, Liaoning and Jilin provinces.
