North Korea is set to send a high-level delegation to the U.N. General Assembly (UNGA) in New York later this month, according to an informed U.N. source, potentially opening a window for engagement with the U.S. after a yearslong diplomatic impasse.
The source told NK News that Vice Foreign Minister Kim Son Gyong is scheduled to address the UNGA’s General Debate on Sept. 29, the first time since 2018 that a DPRK official other than the country’s U.N. ambassador will address the annual forum.
