Oasis played two gigs at Knebworth in 1996

A Labour peer raised the possibility of Oasis returning to Knebworth for a series of concerts next summer, before rowing back on her claims.

During a House of Lords debate, Baroness Sharon Taylor of Stevenage said the band would play five gigs at Knebworth House, where they played twice in August 1996.

It has been speculated by fans and parts of the media that the band could mark the 30th anniversary of those shows with a return to the Hertfordshire venue.

However, she later told the BBC: “I was speaking hypothetically following speculation that they would play Knebworth again as they did in August 1996. I understand the band have not confirmed this.”

In September 2024 the band denied reports they would perform at Knebworth and there would be no further dates after their 2025 tour, which will conclude in Brazil on Thursday.

The band is currently preparing for shows in Tokyo this weekend.

Baroness Sharon Taylor of Stevenage told the BBC she was speaking “hypothetically” in the Lords

Speaking in the House of Lords on Wednesday evening, Lady Taylor said: “Next July I’ll have the benefit of five days of Oasis concerts in the fantastic venue at Knebworth House, which is just about a mile away from my house.”

She said she had been comparing Stevenage’s Old Town Live festival to larger events, to highlight how local venues help musicians progress to stadium success.

Knebworth Park has been used as a music venue since 1974 and has hosted rock and pop giants including Queen, Robbie Williams and Pink Floyd.

Iron Maiden and The Darkness announced they would return to perform at the site in July.

In 2021, Oasis released a live album and documentary film about their gigs at the historic Hertfordshire venue.

Lord Henry Lytton-Cobbold, who owns Knebworth House, and Oasis have been approached for comment.
