Portugal Fashion and the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Lisbon (FAUL) announced that Casa da Arquitectura in Matosinhos will host ‘Portugal Fashion Incubator – Education Day’ on November 27. As stated on FAUL’s website, where registration for the event is also open, this Portugal Fashion initiative “aims to strengthen the links between students, schools and the fashion industry in Portugal.”

“Students. Schools. Industry. Three perspectives that come together to shape the future of fashion in Portugal,” Portugal Fashion shared on its social media channels. “Portugal Fashion Incubator – Education Day will take place on 27 November at Casa da Arquitectura in Matosinhos. A gathering of ideas, experiences and new visions. A moment to reflect on how fashion is taught, learned and made in Portugal, a language in constant transformation. Save the date!”, it adds.

“The event aims to create a space for sharing and constructive dialogue between education and the market, fostering a genuine, open, and collaborative approach among everyone involved in the sector,” explains FAUL. “Throughout the day, students, teaching staff, and fashion professionals will discuss challenges, expectations, and opportunities in education and professional practice across three thematic panels,” it continues, listing the themes: ‘From the Students to the Schools & Industry’; ‘From the Schools to the Students & Industry’; ‘From the Industry to the Students & Teaching Community’.

“The programme seeks to open up new perspectives on how fashion is taught, learned and practised in Portugal, reinforcing the importance of closer collaboration between schools and the business sector.”

The programme runs through the afternoon, beginning with Check-in at Casa da Arquitectura at 3pm; at 3:30 pm, the Portugal Fashion Incubator – Education Day opens; at 4 pm, the first panel addresses ‘From the Students to the Schools & Industry’, featuring first-person perspectives from students; at 4:45 pm, the second panel, ‘From the Schools to the Students & Industry’, presents the views of teachers and institutions; at 5:45 pm, after a break, Panel 3, ‘From the Industry to the Students & Teaching Community’, offers the perspective of industry professionals; and, finally, at 6:30 pm, ‘Community & Connection – Sharing & Networking Informal Experience’.

According to the organisers, the event will conclude with an informal networking and sharing session, open to all participants, which will promote “the exchange of ideas and the emergence of new collaborations within the national creative ecosystem”, FAUL concludes, as Portugal Fashion’s partner in the initiative.
