Salomon’s global chief brand officer Scott Mellin is leaving the company.

In a LinkedIn post on Monday, the footwear executive announced he would depart the Amer Sports-owned mountain sports brand on April 1, 2026.

FN has reached out to Salomon for comment.

“We have a lot to be proud of,” Mellin wrote on LinkedIn. “When I joined Salomon at the end of 2022 we developed a clear brand vision. This three years of focus on the brand vision has delivered amazing progress for the Salomon brand.”

Mellin added that he is “most proud” of what sits behind the vision of the brand itself – “reinforcing a culture of creativity.”

“Driving the power of innovation in our brand narrative,” he added. “The teams have worked hard to translate Salomon’s innovation strengths into clearer, more impactful storytelling — making it more visible, aspirational, and consistent across the entire consumer journey.”

Mellin continued: “Salomon’s success belongs to many teams beyond the brand – including product, commercial, operations and many more. For me, this has been such an amazing creative and cultural experience. I thank you all. And to everyone at Salomon, I know that you will continue shaping the future of sport and culture.”

The executive joined Salomon from LifeLabs Design, where he served as chief executive officer. Prior to that, Mellin was the global general manager of mountain sports at The North Face, where he helped pioneer the relaunch of the brand’s footwear category, and led the company’s sustainability programming.

The announcement comes just days after market sources told FN sister publication WWD that the French outdoor brand may be about to bolster its creative leadership.

Finnish designer Heikki Salonen, MM6 Maison Margiela’s creative lead, has emerged as a top contender for the role. The two brands have an ongoing collaboration that began for the fall 2022 collection and has spanned shoes as well as clothing and accessories.

According to sources, it is understood Salonen exited Maison Margiela earlier this week. His start date at Salomon could not immediately be learned, and he did not immediately return requests for comment on Friday.

On Thursday, the brand revealed it had opened an expansive office and showroom in Paris’ 10th arrondissement, a 16,000-square-foot space spanning multiple floors that will serve as a flagship creative and strategic center designed to accelerate the brand’s global impact, the company said. It is slated to open to clients during the upcoming Paris Men’s Fashion Week in January.
