Tatum Paxley Makes History Beating Jacy for 1st NXT Women's Title at Halloween Havoc

Tatum Paxley beat Jacy Jayne at Halloween Havoc on Saturday to win the NXT Women’s Championship for the first time.

With Jayne beating all challengers by hook or by crook since winning the NXT women’s title back in May, the entire NXT women’s roster and even some TNA stars were recently given the opportunity to become No. 1 contender.

On the Oct. 14 episode of NXT, a 21-woman battle royal was held to determine Jayne’s challenger for the NXT Women’s Championship at Halloween Havoc.

In the closing moments of the match, Paxley locked Jordynne Grace into a sleeper hold on the apron. Paxley’s stablemate from The Culling, Izzi Dame, attempted to clothesline Grace out, but in doing so, the momentum took her out of the ring as well.

That left Paxley as the last woman standing and the winner of the battle royal, earning her the first televised NXT women’s title opportunity of her career.

The following week, NXT kicked off with Tatum and the other members of The Culling celebrating her win, only for Fatal Influence to interrupt. After a war of words, a tag team match was booked for later in the night.

Jayne teamed with the newest member of Fatal Influence, Lainey Reid, against Paxley and Dame with Fallon Henley looking on from outside the ring.

Not surprisingly, Henley got involved in the match by grabbing onto Dame when the referee was distracted, which allowed Jayne to hit Paxley with the Rolling Encore for the win.

Paxley managed to bounce back at Halloween Havoc, though, scoring the biggest victory of her career and winning her first title of any kind.
