Putting together a list of the best gifts for “coffee lovers” is a tricky game because, while all sorts of people love coffee, the way they choose to make it, how much they want to spend on it, and their overall level of coffee nerdiness are all over the map.

For those intensely discerning coffee drinkers, the ones who have notebooks filled with the outcomes of different coffee-to-water ratios, you can be sure this gift guide will have barista-grade espresso machines and pour-over coffee accessories. Of course, some coffee lovers are into efficiency over perfection.

If you’re shopping for a Nespresso stan or a programmable drip machine enthusiast, there are things like coffee subscriptions, high-quality mugs, and worthwhile upgrades to their coffee bar that all make great gifts.

Fellow Series 1 Espresso

Perhaps the hottest buy in at-home espresso this season (so hot you won’t even get it until 2026), Fellow’s first espresso machine was incredibly impressive in our brief test drive earlier this year. Like Fellow’s first coffee maker, the Aiden, the Series 1 serves two masters equally well. For the hardcore espresso enthusiast, you can manually control every step of the brewing process; for the less intense coffee lover, you can pull delicious shots almost automatically. Right now, it’s available for pre-order with deliveries coming in early next year.

East Fork mugs

East Fork Mug

There is nothing I like more this time of year than a cozy mug of something, and I don’t think there is a cozier mug than this homey sipper from East Fork pottery. East Fork is one of our favorite home goods brands, and their mugs (like the rest of their pottery) come in every color you could possibly want.

Aeropress

The Aeropress is an easy-to-use brewer that works as well at home as it does when your coffee lover is traveling. And it’s small and affordable enough to fit in a stocking.

Wacaco Picopresso

Speaking of portable brewing gear: Equipment for making great coffee away from home is tough enough to come by. But great espresso? Almost nothing can do that. The Picopresso is one exception, though. It’s a handsome hand pump contraption that produces enough pressure for a crema-topped shot, whether you’re on a mountaintop, a cheap hotel room, or anywhere else.

Podium Coffee Subscription

Podium Coffee Club Subscription

We have tried so many coffee subscriptions at the BA offices in the last year, but the coolest came from a company called Podium Coffee. They send bags exclusively from top awarded coffee roasters from around the country. Their premium platinum subscription will make a particularly special gift, featuring some of the rarest, hardest to get beans, and often utilizing really interesting and innovative production methods.

Fellow Opus

Fellow opus coffee grinder

Fellow Opus Conical Burr Grinder

Fellow’s versatile, entry-level coffee grinder is just the thing for someone who is trying to improve their morning coffee but doesn’t know where to start. Given its versatility (able to grind for anything from espresso to cold brew brilliantly), it’s one of the most affordable burr grinders. It’s also user friendly—easy to adjust, with notes right inside the lid on measurements and setting suggestions.

Nespresso Vertuo Plus

Nespresso Vertuo Plus Coffee and Espresso Maker by Breville

When it comes to pod coffee, Nespresso just does it better than anyone else. If you have a coffee lover who has been laboring under the tasteless, watery output that typically comes from a cheap coffee maker, do them a solid and start them on their Nespresso journey. It’ll be even less work than they currently put into their morning coffee and a much more delicious outcome.

Ninja Espresso and Coffee Barista System

If you think the just-mentioned coffee drinker won’t want to commit exclusively to Nespresso pods, the new Ninja offering will give them some optionality. It works with Nespresso’s original pods and the milk frother on the side lets your giftee top the shots with a blanket of foam. But it also brews baskets of drip coffee.

Cumulus

Cumulus Machine

Apparently 75% of Starbucks orders are not cappuccinos, lattes, or red eyes, but for some kind of cold drink. That was the insight from the former head of innovation at Starbucks when he created the Cumulus coffee maker, a single-serve cold brew machine that can have a pint of nitro ready in just a couple minutes. It’s the only machine we’ve ever tried that uses a built-in compressor, which means it actually serves the coffee cold; no need to put ice in to water it down. For anyone who is a cold brew devotee this is the fastest, easiest way to get it at home. Read my full review of the Cumulus here.

Grindz Professional Coffee Grinder Cleaning Tablets

Urnex Grindz Professional Coffee Grinder Cleaning Tablets

Someone once gave me the advice that, the best gifts are the ones people won’t buy for themselves. And even the most devoted coffee people can sometimes skimp on deep-cleaning their equipment. Since burr grinders are notoriously difficult to clean, get them a pack of these professional-grade grinder cleaning tablets as a utilitarian stocking stuffer.

Ember 2 Self-Heating Mug

Ember Mug 2

There are other self-heating mugs out there (like this pretty one from Ohom), but Ember is the unquestioned champ. Its Ember 2 mug, which has a heating element right inside and connects to a handy app, is now out in some new colorways. Just because your giftee wants something functional doesn’t mean it can’t come in a cute powder blue.

Falcon’s espresso cups have the dual advantages of being cute and durable. This set of little enamelware mugs can help complete your giftee’s coffee corner.

Jono Pandolfi espresso cup

Jono Pandolfi Espresso Cup

New Jersey–based ceramist Jono Pandolfi has long been the go-to maker of handmade tableware for some of the country’s most celebrated restaurants, from Daniel Humm’s Eleven Madison Park to Wylie Dufresne’s WD~50. His pieces have even made cameo appearances on The Bear.

These stoneware espresso cups are a Bon Appétit commerce team favorite (we all have one). They’re perfectly sized for a double shot, with thick walls that help retain heat. Plus, the espresso’s cloud-like crema looks especially striking against the white glaze.

Atlas Coffee Club K-Cups and Nespresso Pods

If you made me pick only one strongly held opinion about coffee, it is that coffee from K-Cups does not taste very good. But I have K-Cup people in my life, and you probably do too. For them, Atlas Coffee’s (one of our favorite whole bean coffee subscriptions) first-ever K-Cups will greatly improve their morning coffee. Each box of pods follows the same format as their whole bean deliveries, single origin from a range of different coffee-producing countries, and ready to drop right into a Keurig machine. If you know someone who is a Nespresso person, don’t worry, Atlas makes something for them, too.

Espro P7 French Press

Espro P7

If your favorite coffee drinker likes French press, it’s quite possible their press could get an upgrade. Espro’s luxurious, insulated, stainless steel French press has the most effective plunger system on the market, fully separating the grounds from the brewed coffee, meaning the final product stays fresher longer, letting your giftee slowly sip and savor their coffee over the course of a lazy morning.

Saint Anthony Industries’ bottomless portafilter

Saint Anthony Industries 58 mm Bottomless Portafilter

Saint Anthony Industries 54 mm Bottomless Portafilter

A beautiful addition for an espressohead who wants to level up their brewing. A bottomless portafilter can help you learn whether the grind and distribution of coffee is helping extract the best flavor possible (if it is, you’ll see one smooth stream of espresso coming out; if it’s not, it will spurt all over the place). And Saint Anthony Industries crafts beautiful wooden pieces ready for display when they aren’t in use.
