When it dropped back in summer 2024, the Ninja Slushi was a hot ticket item. The machine, designed to make all manner of slushies, frappes, milkshakes, and frozen cocktails at the touch of a button, sold out almost instantly. If you’ve ever imbibed in a frozen negroni or frosty margarita at a local watering hole, you’ll understand the appeal of having a machine that can do the exact same thing for you right at home.

The Slushi has since been restocked, and it’s currently on sale for $50 off its current MSRP for October Prime Day—also known as Amazon Prime Big Deal Days, (but it’s the same thing). If you aren’t aware, Prime Day is Amazon’s now twice annual sales event exclusively for Prime members. However if you aren’t one, there are plenty of other retailers matching deals (which we will also link below).

This is a pretty great deal, especially if you’ve been eyeing the Slushi since its debut. While summer may be over, nothing is stopping you from whipping this thing out for the holiday season. Who doesn’t like frozen hot chocolate?

What’s so great about the Slushi?

The genius behind the Ninja Slushi is that it is capable of making frozen drinks without any ice, blending, or pre-freezing beforehand. All you need to do is pour your (room-temp) liquid into the chamber, choose your setting, and wait for the machine to do its job. It is incredibly easy to use with five preset functions and settings for your preferred thickness levels (the colder, the thicker.) The machine is no fuss and quiet as a mouse; you’ll probably forget that it’s running until the ready chime goes off. Depending on the thickness setting, the machine will take anywhere from 15 minutes to a little over an hour to finish a freezing cycle.

The way it works is simple. The machine mixes the ingredients continuously around a cooling cylinder, causing tiny ice crystals to form rather than freezing the liquid into a big solid block. One important thing to note is that sugar is very crucial to this process, as it lowers the freezing temperature of the mixture, allowing the slush to form. For that reason, you cannot make slushies out of diet sodas or other sugar-free drink mixtures.
