There aren’t many people who understand what it is like to go from legendary NFL quarterback to Fox Sports broadcaster.
But Drew Brees found someone who has gone through exactly that to turn to for advice ahead of his own broadcasting debut.
“I’d warn him about all the mistakes I made in my first year, but we’d be here for an hour,” Tom Brady said Sunday. “So I’m not going to tell you any of those things. He knows what to do. Have fun, just enjoy yourself and don’t read all those social media comments.”
Brady was clearly having fun with the segment, although he was met with mixed reviews as an announcer during his first year in 2024. To his credit, he demonstrated notable improvement as his first season continued, which drew rave reviews from fans.
Social media was always going to react strongly to Brady one way or the other considering his status as arguably the greatest player in NFL history.
There will surely be similar responses to Brees given his own status as an all-time great quarterback.
The former New Orleans Saints leader was part of Fox’s team covering Sunday’s game between the Green Bay Packers and New York Giants.
Brees will surely have plenty of insight on the play of Jordan Love for Green Bay and Jameis Winston for New York in an intriguing quarterback battle.
If he listens to Brady, he won’t go on social media in the aftermath either.
