Travis Kelce revisited one of his most talked-about boots in Kansas City on Sunday, arriving at Arrowhead Stadium in Louis Vuitton x Timberland work boots before the Chiefs’ game against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Kelce laced up the collaboration’s nubuck ankle combat boots, a style that merges the luxury brand’s monogram language with Timberland’s classic work-boot frame. The pair read almost entirely black beneath his trousers, with a rounded toe and thick lug outsole giving the shoes a sturdy profile as he walked the tunnel.

The collaboration appeared in Louis Vuitton’s 2024 collection, built around the house’s take on Timberland’s classic work boot. The style featured nubuck uppers and thick rubber soles, keeping the overall shape close to the original six-inch silhouette while adding Louis Vuitton materials and detailing, including patterned monograms that, in Kelce’s case, were partially obscured by the hem of his pants.

Kelce has worn the LV x Timberland style before. In November, he chose the same boots for a New York date night with Taylor Swift, where social media users zeroed in on the pair during an ongoing TikTok discussion about “bone-in” versus “boneless” Timberlands — shorthand for whether a boot includes the extra midsole layer associated with traditional New York City Timbs. The debate turned Kelce’s footwear into one of the more dissected menswear choices of the week.

On Sunday, the boots sat under a high-texture outfit built from ready-to-wear labels. Kelce layered a black hoodie from Guest in Residence under Amiri’s tweed flannel snap-front overshirt in red, finished with a fringed hem and allover check pattern. Diesel’s D-Sire cargo jeans in blue tweed added even more surface detail, cut wide through the leg with oversize flap pockets along the sides and enough length to pool over the top of his boots. Black sunglasses from Off-White finished the tunnel look.

The work boot moment followed a year of varied footwear for Kelce, who has alternated between dress shoes, sneakers and heavy boots during public appearances. In August, he wore Christian Louboutin’s Louis high-top sneakers with a gray suit for the Kansas City screening of ESPN’s “The Kingdom,” and he has also appeared in classic red-soled Louboutin styles while supporting Swift’s “Eras” tour dates.

Swift logged her own Louis Vuitton boot sighting in New York earlier this month, wearing the brand’s Midtown High Boot during promotional stops for her “End of an Era” docuseries.

Kelce’s latest tunnel arrival brought the label onto the NFL field again — this time in work-boot form — ahead of a game that saw the Chargers defeat the Chiefs 16–13, eliminate Kansas City from playoff contention for the first time since 2014 and confirm a season-ending ACL tear for quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
