UNC GM Michael Lombardi Reportedly Called 'Top 5 All-Time of Despised People in' NFL

University of North Carolina football general manager Michael Lombardi reportedly didn’t leave a positive impression during his lengthy tenure as an NFL executive.

On Friday’s episode of Pablo Torre Finds Out (10:11 mark), sports journalist Pablo Torre reported that a league source told him Lombardi is “in the top five all-time of despised people in the NFL.”

After previously serving as an assistant to the coaching staff with the New England Patriots from 2014 to 2016 while Bill Belichick was the head coach, Lombardi followed Belichick to the college ranks in December 2024, becoming GM of UNC’s football program.

Belichick is the head coach at UNC, but Lombardi apparently has a great deal of influence, with Torre reporting that Belichick listens to his girlfriend, Jordon Hudson, and Lombardi “above all else.”
