A U.S. nuclear-powered aircraft carrier arrived in the South Korean port city of Busan on Wednesday, according to the ROK navy, a day after the allies’ defense chiefs held high-level talks reaffirming their commitment to deterring North Korea.

The deployment of the U.S. Navy’s 5th Carrier Strike Group, led by the USS George Washington (CVN-73), to Busan Naval Operations Base marks the second time that an American aircraft carrier has visited the Korean Peninsula this year.
