Amid the lack of consensus around the top quarterback in the 2026 NFL draft, ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. has Oregon star Dante Moore as the best player in the upcoming class.

Kiper released his updated big board on Thursday, with Moore still in the No. 1 spot ahead of Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza and Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love.

Here’s the top 10 on Kiper’s midseason big board:

Kiper previously had Moore as the top overall player in the 2026 draft in October. ESPN’s draft guru praised the Oregon standout for having “impressive traits” that includes solid accuracy overall and touch on deep throws.

One of the concerns about Moore looking ahead to the upcoming draft is his limited starting experience. He has appeared in 23 games since 2023, but has just 14 starts during that period.

Assuming Moore doesn’t suffer an injury, he is guaranteed to make at least three more starts not including a potential Big Ten Championship Game or College Football Playoff appearance for the Ducks.

Starting experience has become a bigger talking point in recent years as players like Trey Lance and Anthony Richardson failed to live up to expectations as high draft picks after limited track records at the college level.

Lance made just 17 starts at North Dakota State before being selected No. 3 overall by the San Francisco 49ers in 2021. Richardson’s 13 starts at Florida prior to the 2023 draft were tied with Mitchell Trubisky for the fewest by a first-round draft pick in the last 15 years.

Someone who might be aware of that concern is Moore, who is believed to be strongly considering staying at Oregon for another season.

Mendoza’s steady performance at Indiana has catapulted him into the mix for the No. 1 overall pick. His 26 passing touchdowns through 10 games this season have nearly matched his total from the previous two years combined (30).

If there is a question about Mendoza going into the NFL, it’s about his physical traits. He’s not regarded as a high-level athlete, nor does have have top-tier arm talent, but his processing and accuracy help him make up for some of those limitations.

Reese has put himself in the discussion as the best defensive player in the ’26 class with an impressive season at Ohio State. The junior standout has 10 tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks in nine games.
