WWE's Drew McIntyre Joins 'Highlander' Cast, Will Star Alongside Henry Cavill

WWE Superstar Drew McIntyre is reportedly set to star in the upcoming Highlander movie.

According to Deadline’s Rosy Cordero and Andreas Wiseman, McIntyre will play the role of Angus MacLeod, the brother of the character played by Henry Cavill, who previously portrayed Superman in Man of Steel.

McIntyre seemed to confirm his involvement in Highlander with the following post on X:

Highlander, which is produced by Amazon MGM Studios’ United Artists and directed by Chad Stahelski, reportedly also includes a cast of Russell Crowe, Marisa Abela, Karen Gillan, Djimon Hounsou, Max Zhang and Dave Bautista.

It will mark McIntyre’s second role in a major film after playing the part of Rory Mackenzie in the 2024 action thriller The Killer’s Game.

Bautista, who was a multi-time world champion in WWE under the name Batista, also starred in The Killer’s Game, and he will once again act alongside McIntyre in Highlander.

The first installment of the Highlander film franchise was released in 1986, and several sequels have hit theaters in the decades since then.

McIntyre is seemingly the perfect fit for the latest Highlander since he is from Scotland, and the main character in past films hailed from the Scottish Highlands.

The 40-year-old McIntyre is among WWE’s top stars, having held three world titles in addition to being a two-time tag team champion, one-time intercontinental champion, one-time NXT champion and one-time Royal Rumble winner.

Most recently, he unsuccessfully challenged Cody Rhodes for the WWE Championship at Wrestlepalooza last weekend.

Per Cordero and Wiseman, production for Highlander is expected to begin in early 2026.
